Did you know there are over 20 joints in the foot? Arthritis can occur in any of the joints in the feet. It occurs in some joints more than others but it can be very painful. Arthritis has different causes such as after injuring a joint, due to biomechanics of the foot or progression of overuse injuries. There is also inflammatory arthritis that occurs and can affect the joints differently from an osteoarthritis. It is important to address the cause of the problem when we are able but also to improve your symptoms. We will evaluate the location of your pain, take xrays to evaluate the joint if needed and discuss your different options that you may have. Injections, medications and support modification can be helpful to reduce your pain. If conservative treatment is not helping, there may be surgical options that can be offered.
